The
Talisman (CD)
Max Corbacho
|
|
|
|
The
Talisman is the brand new ambient atmospheric space CD from
Max Corbacho.
Eleven compositions created between 2004 and 2006, based on
new, on the edge, harmonic and textural explorations. Intense,
light, dark and purely atmospheric, most of these songs were
composed during various, long, deep meditative improvisation
sessions. " In the planning stage, I have developed an
intense activity in deeply programming new sounds in my habitual
equipment, my beloved Korg Triton & Korg Z1, and sound
processing outboard expansion units such Reverbs and Delays,
as well some other esoteric gear. I have tried to create all
the songs of this work "inside" my synthesizers
exclusively, inside this deeply isolated world, an amniotic-like
innerspace that develops in the synth and multieffects circuits,
without insert any "external" element except for
the voices in the first song. Also, I have experimented more
and more with long, spacious reverbs and looping treatments
". Thus, the "oceanic" nature is strengthen,
creating an atemporal quality, suspended in time and space,
without rare elements disrupting the internal balance and
natural flow of harmonic streams. No tempo, no synchronization,
maybe only the breathing and the pulse of the artist. All
fuelled by Max's personal, emotional perception of life's
beauty.

MOONTRIBE
(CDr)
Max Corbacho
|
|
|
|
"A
collection of previously not published tracks, destined to
collaboration projects that finally did not see the light,
plus two totally new pieces. Moontribe creates an immersive
space, where spectral colourzones meet floating tribal-esque
pulsing groovescapes. The four first tracks correspond to
stage 2000-2001, the tribal character emerges forcefully in
"Suntribe", the first piece of the CD, and the energic percussions
drive the atmospheric textures also in the next two tracks.
Huge growing currents of sound are rising, falling and surrounding.
Techno-tribal beats, with mesmerizing sound effects are taking
full control of us. The sound here is so powerful, expanding
yet warm and elegant. This most beautiful storm we've been
in ends somewhere in the deep hidden ancient foggy swamps.
The two final pieces were created in the last months of 2003,
in them can be appreciated the evolution of Max´s soundscapes.
The final cut, "Moontribe", spiral in an entrancing and melancolic
synth layered chords over 20 minutes, a vastly, relaxed and
amorphous immersive conclussion.

Indalo
(CDr)
Max Corbacho & Bruno Sanfilippo
|
|
|
|
"INDALO
is the first collaboration work between both artists, inspired
by a join trip to the South of Spain. The whole CD represents
an exploratory excursion to atmospheric ambient textures of
a dark and dreamy beauty, a deep kind of ritual echoes.
Structurally this CD presents seven soundscapes, carefully
placed, starting with some rythmic movements, from the walking
groove of "Indalo", driving the listener over the atmospheric
synth lines, to the more relaxed and introspective realms
of the following tracks. The textures are made based on a
mix of field recordings, computer manipulated samples and
spontaneously created tracks on synths and samplers. Strange
far-away noises, swirling windy ancient echoes, subtle percussions,
distant acoustic sounds and undulating synthlayers conform
this work, all selected and presented in a deep, full of emotion,
organic experience."
"This work tells of a shared spiritual imagination and of
the steps each artist has taken toward enlightenment. Their
detailed harmonic soundscapes portray the vast expanse of
a timeless panorama".
Chuck van Zyl, Host of "Star´s End

Nocturnal
Emanations (CDr)
Max Corbacho
|
|
|
|
"73+
min long form work that slowly drift along transparent synthwashes,
developing through silent landscapes in his formation, almost
hostile, sometimes underground, always stony, ancient. This
CD conjures up an amazing world that we feel remotely past,
like a forgotten sanctuary, approaching the sonorous
aridity to human senses.
"Corbacho
has arranged a beautiful backing with a vast aray of environmental
sounds and fx's, giving the musical painting an almost dense
atmosphere."
Bert Strolenberg, E-dition Magazine.

The
Resonant Memory of Earth (CDr)
Max Corbacho
|
|
|
"The
resonant Memory of Earth", is a slow landscape of organic,
waving, and mysterious atmospheres. Max Corbacho completes
some ways begun in Vestiges, but of an absolutely atmospheric
form. Across all four tracks that compose the album, Corbacho
brings the listener to a new state of acoustic perception,
inducing a state of semi drowsiness, increased by the down
tempo, the sinuous movement of the mysterious sonorous currents
and the subtle, fine harmonic architecture, ever mutating
and regenerating.
Soft coiling and morphing textures, heavy atmospheric textural
music for a deep drift into the dimensions of space, time
and place.
"I
hope you all are appreciating this gem and masterpiece of
ambient electronic space music. This is music rich in experience
and expertly crafted."

Far
Beyond The Inmobile Point (CDr)
Max Corbacho |
|
|
The
album contains no rhythms and is filled with very intense
and sometimes rather dark andlong-stretched sounds in a sparser,
sometimes darker sonic landscape. From the high soft shimmers
of "Primigenial Frontier" to the low rumblings of "Predawn
Darkness," the mood throughout is haunting and dramatic, yet
serene and beautiful
"Corbacho's
music has an energy that gives the listener the feeling of
belonging into an eternal, endless pulse of an ever-expanding
universe, leading our imagination through the immensity of
the cosmos in a tireless quest in the realms of wonder."

Vestiges
(CD)
Max Corbacho
|
|
|
|
Max
Corbacho's Vestiges has often been compared to Steve Roach's
Western Spaces and Desert Solitaire. While such comparisons
have some validity, they distract listeners from hearing Corbacho's
nuances and subtleties. The CD is definitely in the style
of Roach's desert ambience, but Corbacho puts his own twists
and turns on the soundscape. The ethnic rhythms and arid atmospheres
are full and distinct. The rhythms drive the atmospheres.
This disc, while certainly a desert ambient offering, stands
on its own as a work of merit. It will appeal to fans of Ma
Ja Le, Biff Johnson, Temps Perdu, Steve Roach, and Vidna Obmana.
Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide
Gliding
ambient serenity with hypnotic hand drumming. Max Corbacho's
first CD drifts over the listener like soft sand and silk,
weightless wafts and gossamer veils of synthetic tone rising
and falling in delicate harmony. The tone is light and dreamy,
floatational and airy - atmospheric rather than oceanic, skybound
rather than subterranean. The percussive content is confined
to the first four pieces - here gentle loops comprised of
organic beats with an ethnic flavour roll round evenly, trance-inducing,
repeating until a part of the fabric of the environment. As
the album progresses the introspective nature of the music
increases - the beautiful Erosion lulling and spacious leading
into the final three beatless tracks. The shadows pull in
somewhat toward the end, Vestiges opening with a twilight
moodiness that seems to open into a clear night - the listener
a solitary presence in a vast panorama.
